From the Director

The holidays are approaching and this means, among other things, the Library will be closed on the following days: Friday through Monday, December 23 - 26, and Friday through Monday, December 30 - January 2.

So what do you do when you're desperate for reading material and the building is closed? For starters, you could download Libby and enjoy tens of thousands of eBooks, eAudiobooks, and magazines on your portable electronic devices! All you need is the free Libby app and your library card.

For those of you that prefer a more tactile reading experience, you could also visit any of the three official Hamilton Public Library Mini Branches, which technically never close! "What's a Mini Branch," you ask? They are little weather-resistant boxes full of free books for readers of all ages, very similar to Little Free Libraries®, but called something else for legal purposes. Ours are peppered throughout our service area in three locations: The Lebanon Community Center, the Beaver Den Diner in Brookfield, and inside the Country Peddler in Hubbardsville. The Mini Branches operate on the 'leave a book/take a book' model, but if you don't have a book to exchange, don't worry! Our staff regularly fills these boxes with donations.

Thank you for reading, and on behalf of the Library staff and Trustees, I want to wish you and yours a peaceful holiday season.

Highlights from last month

Last month we learned to embroider, made alcohol ink Christmas ornaments, and of course, had a lot of fun at the afterschool program!
