What’s new at the library?

We have implemented a new calendar software that should, in time, streamline our room booking process. This is brand new software however, and there are a few kinks that still need to be worked out. You can continue to access the room reservation form on our website on the contact page, but if you would like to have an event that is open to the public, or if you would like to meet outside of library hours, please contact our program coordinator at [email protected] instead of using the reservation form. If you are unsure of what to do or run into any issues please don’t hesitate to contact us, we are here to help!

Art Exhibit
Photography by Lee Ingraham
Lee Ingraham is a resident of Chenango County growing up in the rural town of Smyrna where
he and wife Kathy still reside. Lee’s work focuses mostly on Central New York scenes, including
landscapes, macro images of local flowers and wildlife, and Composite photography that he has
digitally manipulated to create a completely new sense of his subject matter. His images are often
opportunistic as he walks through meadows, woods, and farmland looking for something to grab
his attention.

Happy 2024!
This transitional phase of the year between Christmas and New Year’s Day provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on 2023 and look ahead to 2024. Remembrances and resolutions, that has a nice ring to it!
Unfortunately the reports for the month of December aren’t available until early next month, so the reflection section of this report will have to be put on hold until next month’s newsletter. Let’s hope Next Month Travis remembers this loose promise when he sits down to type up the next one!
So let’s stick to reminders and resolutions, shall we? Maybe you’re determined to eat healthier, start exercising, meet new people, brew your own craft beer, journal, or read more in 2024. Chances are, we can find something to help you with your goal, and get you started for free. Exercise? We have ice skates and yoga classes. Introductions to your neighbors? We have a book club! Read more? That one’s obvious. The library has always been a place where anyone in our community can come to better themselves, and what better time to see what we have than the present!
This year is also looking exciting beyond just resolutions! Coming up this month we have a new art exhibit from Lee Ingraham, Show & Tell after storytime on the second Tuesdays of the month, Valentine’s Day Cookie decorating for kids with the 4H club, and much more! Looking ahead, it’s never too early to start talking about the Summer Reading Program. This year’s theme is ‘Adventures Begin at the Library,’ and we’ll have the usual games, programs, ice cream, prizes, and more! Keep an eye on our calendar for more details.
Thank you for reading and subscribing to our newsletter!
