We received a lot of beautiful art for our community art show! This art will be on display through the end of August, so be sure to stop in and check it out!

Friends of the Library

The Friends of the Library are still collecting purses for this year’s Pursapalooza, bring your purses to the library if you want to donate them!

Library Landscape

Our butterfly garden has been officially certified as a wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation! Stop by to check out our new butterfly "puddling pool," a simple source of water for our winged visitors.

Elizabeth has also planted seeds sent to the library from The Secret Garden Project, including sunflower, zinnia, calendula, marigold, hollyhock, milkweed, snap pea, and parsley. We can't wait to see everything pop up!

From the Director

What’s new at the library this month? More like what’s “news” at the library this month - a daily newspaper! One again we have a daily newspaper available both in print and online, the Rome Daily Sentinel! The print version of the paper arrives every morning and is shelved in the Fireplace Room. It is available on a first come, first served basis alongside our other print magazines and papers.

For those of you that want to access the newspaper online, you’re in luck! The only catch is you need to be logged on to one of our public workstations to access it. If you follow the link on our website, you should be able to start reading right away. If you have trouble with the username and password, let one of our staff members know and they’ll help you log in.

Other than that, there’s not much new to report from the library, aside from the dozens of new books, movies, audiobooks, e-books, e-audiobooks, video games, museum passes, programs… I guess there’s always lots of new things here at your local library, so stop in regularly to check them out!

I want to take this opportunity to once again thank the Friends of the Library for their continued support of our mission. They do so much for us, it’s almost impossible to remember everything. Most recently, they helped serve ice cream at our annual Summer Reading Program kickoff party! And through their direct support of our program budget, they also purchased giveaways, including new books for every child who signs up for the program, running until August 31! Thanks, Friends!

Thanks also to Stewart’s Shops, who provided the ice cream for the party!

Just one more thanks left, thank YOU for reading and subscribing to our newsletter. See you in the library!
